Last summer, on our roadtrip around North Wales, we visited Bodnant Gardens. Whether you are a garden enthusiast or just enjoy some greenery, you must visit this ecthanting place. It was not too busy on the day, and so it made the experience all the more whimsical. It was on this trip that I discovered a plant that intrigued me to the point that I kept bringing it up during the whole visit and had the intention of buying at the shop before we left. I was utterly disappointed to find that it was not, in fact, for sale at the shop and so the journey back home was a bitter sweet one. It’s like when you went to the zoo as a child and really, REALLY, wanted to see the pandas, but on the day they hid in their “bedroom”. The elephants were great, as were the snakes, but you just wanted to see the panda.
In any case, back in November when I was browsing the Sarah Raven site for some bulbs, you can imagine my surprise when I saw the green leaves with the white speckled spots: Pulmonaria Sissihurst. Not the same variety, but close enough. “It’ll do, for now”.I ordered two of those and a Blue Ensign, but they would be delivered late February. And so they did. In any case, the arrival of these plants that have just started to appear reminded me of the visit to the gardens, and I wanted to share some of he inspiration on here today.
